Information

Feb 03, 2011

PSS subsidiary has successfully developed tubercle bacteria concentration kit that does not require hazardous centrifugal separator operation.

Genetein Co., Ltd., a reagent development/ manufacturing subsidiary of PSS, has developed new bacteria concentration method called "TRICORE bacteria concentration kit" that can collect the tubercle bacilli without centrifugation operation, which has been regarded an indispensable, yet, at the same time, highly hazardous process.

At the 22nd Annual Meeting of Japanese Society for Clinical Microbiology, held in Okayama on January 8th and 9th, 2011, Dr. Satoshi Mitarai of Research Institute of Tuberculosis, Japan Anti-Tuberculosis Association had a presentation titled as "Reviewing efficiency of beads-based M. tuberculosis collection and concentration method, named TRICORE".

In the presentation, it was reported that as reviewing the result of M. tuberculosis collection and concentration by TRICORE, using clinical samples, the method is higher rate of positive with significant difference than centrifugal method and it is more effective in concentration.  As for the TRICORE bacteria concentration kit, it was suggested that the method enables to shorten operation time without hazardous centrifugal operation with higher bacteria concentration rate.  (The summary of a speech is available in Japanese Society for Clinical Microbiology Magazine, Vol.20 No.4 2010)

PSS seeks to more active role in the clinical diagnostics market by commercializing "TRICORE bacteria concentration kit" which pays full attention to safety of the individual operator.
